About

How Project XBY is put together

Project XBY is a global payments intelligence dashboard aimed at senior payments executives preparing for country reviews. Version 3.0 is a full rebuild against primary sources, with a narrower and deeper scope than the v2.1 product it replaces.

The tool answers one question: walking into a country review, what is the state of payments here, who is actually winning, and where is the opening? Every answer is delivered across eight analytical tabs per country, every KPI sourced to a specific URL, every sentence written to the editorial standard of a Financial Times correspondent — not a trade-press roundup.

Coverage

Thirty-three Tier-1 countries, selected by GDP rank and payments-system importance. Each one is a distinct JSON file (data/countries/<ISO2>.json) authored against the v3.0 schema and re-audited in April 2026.

Schema

Eight tabs per country — brief, consumerPayments, rails, economics, crossBorder, fraudSecurity, fintechDisruption, pulse. Every atomic KPI carries a SourceRef { publisher, title, url, accessedOn }. The build refuses to ship if any URL is missing or malformed.

FX snapshot

FX rates in v3.0 are pinned by the author as of 2026-05-24. Hard pegs (SAR, AED, HKD) are exact; floating rates are best-effort to within roughly 1.5% for G10 and 3% for higher-volatility currencies. Before v3.0 ships publicly, every rate must be revalidated against a live feed — ECB daily reference rates preferred.

Provenance

v2.1 shipped March 2026 with 138 countries, 12 tabs, and a single static index.html. It is frozen under /archive for reference. v3.0 is the authoritative product at the April 2026 cut; the next quarterly refresh window is July 2026.
